making things up

I always get nervous that I am going to run out of things to paint...like,what if I can't think of anything today? Somehow, that never happens. This painting called, A Visit From Mother Nature, just popped out the other day...go figure!....it's on ebay right now along with these...

The White Crow

Yes Virginia, there are white crows...and I saw one last year. Someone told me there was one in a cemetary so my sister and I and one of our birding friends went to find him. It was a huge cemetary but we found him right away in a big old pine tree. His mama was squawking around, tryin to make sure we werent going to steal her baby but for the most part we were alone with a very rare creature.

Here's a painting I did to commemorate the event:

Mary Jane

This is Jane, my boss's mom who I work with on fridays and saturdays. She's 81 and they used to call her Mary Jane. She's my second mommy and insists on wearing the rain hat to protect her hair-do. I call Jane the fashionista because she is always dressed very well with matching jewelry and shoes. Though she has a little knee pain once in awhile, Jane is extremely active, having breakfast and dinner with her many friends, going to church several times a week and keeping up with her kids and grandkids. One last thing, Jane has the memory of an elephant and can recite things that happened to her when she was a small girl (like the time a dog cornered her on a porch and almost attacked her, she's been afraid of all animals ever since.) Happy Mother's Day Mary Jane!!!

Saturday

Saturday, my friend Dan and I decided to go on a bit of a walkabout in my neighborhood to see what we could find. Dan found a motorcycle licence:
And I found an orange plastic soldier and a porcelian doll made in Japan with missing limbs:
We also found a Geo Cache item by the old Natatorium.

Brad Street

Here is the single most bizarre thing in the house that Herman bought. We're not sure what it's makers intent was...you can see in the bottom right hand corner the plastic yellow grid like thing which covered each fake-brick-outlined panel. Underneath each panel, is a short wooden step, one is hinged so that it can be opened for use of an ill-placed socket. (You can see it down there by the HUSKY box on the electrical pole panel).

This is a detail from the first tree panel, a VERY tiny squirrel:

These are some birds resting on the electrical pole:

And lastly, these are some pieces of the old original (1920) floor that I thought looked pretty cool, I wish they still made floors like that!

Porch Painting

So my friend Herman bought this house in my neighborhood (yay!) and we helped paint his porch today...this is what it looked like. The choice of colors here reflect some other even more bizarre things in the house (that's Herman's girlfriend's son Ted in the back)

This is it almost done...took all day but it's looking great!

Stevey!
Puck!
The floor will be done tomorrow and then I will show you some fun things from the house...

My Silent Friends

These are my 2 quietest friends by FAR! Both thrift store finds, they get along very well and even let Boby the cat sleep on their pillow with them once in awhile. Clown Face is looking out the screened door at one of the many stray cats that roan my yard and I think Teddy has gone blind! The chair is a wicker rocking chair my mom gave me (thanks Mom!) I painted it red.

Alien Cactus

this is my Alien Cactus. I don't know why aliens like this cactus so much, maybe they are all stuck to it...? I'd ask them but I don't understand their language and they don't seem to be able to do that thing the other ones can do, putting their thoughts into people's minds...
