ok, we're back to the project of chronicling all the stuff on my walls that is not my own. Now, i know my photo taking skills are the not best, but c'mon, isnt that kind of a nice departure from all the really good photos you are used to seeing, (like this, for instance) at least you know i'm keepin it real. You'll keep visiting me, right? well, i hope so anyhow...

Ahhhh, Spring

This is my fluffy new backyard as of this morning. Yes, we here in Upstate NY are very excited to see signs of spring. Shoveling, extra layers of clothing, shoveling, warming up and deicing the car, and shoveling are some of the more popular springtime activities around these parts. Ebay Buys

These three are all Ebay purchases I have made. this first one was done by a guy named Chad, can't remember his last name but his ebay moniker was Jihad and it was right before 911 (i didnt even know what jihad meant at the time. I think I received this the day after 911 and was all upset because I thought there were obscure references to the event...

Trio by a Trio

This group of paintings was done on an Art Night (where we get together, drink beer and paint. Everyone passes the paintings around til everyone has painted on them. You all go to bed excited that you have made such masterpieces... the morning reviews are usually a little less enthusiastic). looking at these again however, I have to say that I really like them. They are done by my sister Marty, my friend Steve and me:

Thrift Store Finds

Here are 3 pieces I've stumbled across in my thrift store rummagings. This first one is a wonderfully painted reproduction of a Margaret Keane painting, I couldn't find the name for it, but here's the original. It's signed simply: Millie. I painted the background red because I like red...

And this is relief painting of acrobats I found in Boston of a Chagall knock-off (got it for a buck):

New Cat n Crow

Listed a new Cat n Crow on Ebay a coupla days ago and here it is! It's called Look Who's Up and features Crow watching Lost on the telly, Cat reading Life of Pi and their little pet Bob, who can't schweep....awwww

My Mysterious Rug

I have to admit I stare at this rug that I got on ebay a few years ago. It's hard not to, I mean LOOK:

is this not a really cute fella instead of some random flower thing and look at this:



a doggie peaking over the border...I gotta tell ya, this happens to me all of the time. I look at random patterns and whole pictures come out at me, sometimes in MOTION with MUSIC...does this ever happen to you?

Today's Artist Is Glenn

Glenn Miller is a dear friend of mine who I met at the JazzFest in New Orleans 17 years ago. He is, among other things, a sketch artist and he approached my sister and I asking to borrow a pen. We had one and he right away did a sketch of us:
We wrote our address on the sketch and he promised to send us a copy, which he did and he and I became Penpals. Since we didn't know each other at all, it was easy to make up different personas for ourselves and soon, Rose Petal and Muffin Man (with the blueberry eyes, now known as g.muff) were born. Muffin would beg Rose Petal to come live with him on his alligator farm and eventually, she did...in the letters. Since then, there have been many adventuresome REAL visits now between Glenn and I can truthfully say that we are family. Here's one of his etchings called Jazz Funeral:

De Kooning

This is another diversion from my ongoing theme: art in my house.

"These paintings were not only shocking for their perceived hostility towards women, which is subject to debate, but also because de Kooning focused on the human figure at a time when art world dogma praised abstraction almost exclusively.

My Sister's Work

In the past, my sister Marty used to paint and I was one of her biggest fans. Here's a selection of some of the work that I have that she's done. This one is called the Professor's Worm:

this was done by Jerry, a mentally challenged chap who helps out where I work. He loves to watch me paint and I got him to copy one of my paintings in this sweet pencil drawing.

taking a look around

this photo is a little taste of my new blog project. i realized how much art i have that not's by me. thrift store findings, ebay purchases and friends' and familys' endeavors...
this little trio hangs in my spare bedroom and i will post closer picts along with the artists once i get started.
