Santa in a Box!
I'm so excited about this Santa that I made and the beautiful cedar box that my partner in crime, Felix Caruthers, made for him. The box can serve as a gift box to house Santa in, just tie a bow around it so no one peeks! It also serves as a storage box for when Santy has to go back in the attic for the season, because it's cedar it'll keep the moths from eating away his vintage Pendleton wool outfit (I also added a bit of pine tree oil to give it that Christmas aroma). You of course can do anything you want with the box. It's a light shade of warm green, distressed, with little red wooden feet and lined in a burgundy fabric. The lid is made from old picket fence. Felix makes things to last, so rest assured, this box will last for many lifetimes.
Santa was entirely hand sewn by me and his face is painted to look grungy and aged. He sports a rusty jingle bell (which he rings when he's feeling merry!) amongst a spray of vintage holly. Santa and his Box is listed in my Etsy shop HERE

Dancing Fox and Owl Painting
Yup, you knew the time was near, a dancing fox and owl, big surprise. The really big surprise of this 8x10 on canvas now for sale in my etsy shop AHEM is the color scheme. Observe the odd pairing of Burnt Orange and Eggplant Purple lightly joisting (or rather dancing as in this case) on a bed of fresh Parisian Green, garnished with a dollop of Mint and a smattering of a warm and fluffy Peach Sorbet and you have the makings for a totally new color combo. Feel free to ogle in wonder.

Dreamland
I live near an old amusement park that closes after Labor Day. An empty amusement park is a sort of bittersweet and beautiful thing. No more loud happy noises or mad shrieking, no more aromas of fried sugar waffles and french fries...just the rides, abandoned but still colorful and charming. The park I live near is called Sea Breeze but it used to be called Dreamland, which is what I named this painting.

Henwy
This is my Bubs Wubbles, otherwise known as Henwy....part Shar Pei, part Irish Terrier, Henwy comes from a broken Amish family from the dark backwoods of rural Pennsylvania. Rumor has it his kid brother was trampled by one of the cows there by mistake. Yep, life was hard back then. Henwy was three months old and beginning to starve to death when a kindly soul stepped in and got him and his remaining brothers out of there. Shortly after he came to live with me. He was small but already looked like an old man. One of my friends wanted to call him Benjamin Button, but my sister suggested Henry and it stuck, sort of, ya see, Henry is abnormally small for his age. His poor upbringing has stunted his growth and his Shar Pei features keep him looking quite youthful (well..he's only about 14 months as we speak) but...he's my little forever puppy. He's got a bad heart and some other tough issues but I gotta tell ya, this little guy is so full of life and personality and charm. And when he 'talks', he talks wike dis...whatrya gonna do?

the end IS near
Here's my latest in signs..well, they're kind of like signs, they are meant as wall art, this one is ironic (or apocalyptic depending on your faith). I've made some nice lyric ones as well. Sailing Heartships Through Broken Harbors is one. I also did: There's Nothing You Can Do That Can't Be Done and an Alphabet one and a Numbers one. It's really hard to show how cool these things are on the wall. They fit in tight spaces too, like above a door or window, or below a painting. In either case, they are a lot of fun. I'm thinking of offering house numbers (I did my own with a colorful painted stick or stick in the ground) or family name, or I can always do anyone's favorite lyric. If interested at all, let me know.
